Kudu silih asih, silih asah, jeung silih asuh

Sundanese for “to remind one another, to care for one another, and to guide one another” - is the mantra we adhere to. Unity in angklung subsequently gives birth to what we call our ensemble as a “famsemble” - a portmanteau of family and ensemble.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I join NUSAE?
You can join NUSAE by signing up for our annual auditions that usually happen in August, so be sure to check NUSync and our social media to see when the auditions are happening. Once you pass the auditions, you’re in! Keep in mind that our auditions aren’t about musical ability but finding out more about you as an individual.
Who can join NUSAE?
We welcome all interested NUS undergraduate and graduate students.
When are the practice sessions?
We have practice sessions every Monday and Wednesday from 19:00 to 21:00. You only need to attend one of these weekly sessions so you can choose which one to attend depending on your schedule.
What if I do not have any musical background or experience?
No worries! Most of our members have little to no experience with angklung prior to joining the ensemble, but everyone is keeping up because angklung is a very beginner-friendly instrument!
Do I need to own an angklung?
No, you don’t! Angklungs will be lent to all members.
